THE JOURNEY

An engineer by profession,
a poet by root.

Prasanta Kumar Meher is a senior IT professional who has spent over a decade with a multinational firm in Dubai — yet his heart never left the red soil of western Odisha. Across the Odia diaspora he is known warmly as the “Pravasi Kabi”, the expatriate poet who keeps the mother tongue alive far from home.

His verse is written primarily in Sambalpuri‑Koshli and Odia — a distinctive contemporary voice that weaves nostalgia, emotion and cultural essence into every line. Three published books and countless recitations later, he has carried a village dialect from Bargarh to literary stages in India, the UAE and the UK.

Beyond his own writing, he is a builder of platforms. He founded Aamar Sahitya to connect and elevate fellow writers, and is a founding member of several cultural organisations, including Nuakhai Paribar UAE and Juhar Paribar Delhi — turning a personal passion into a shared, global movement.

Maatir Surta “Melody of the Soil”

His first‑ever Sambalpuri book, released on foreign soil yet made entirely of home. The collection gathers verses of longing, harvest, mother tongue and belonging — the expatriate’s ache to keep the village alive in memory.

Ghara chhaadi aasili, mati chhaadi paarili nahin — the house I left behind, but never the soil.
